CRAFTING A DISTICNT VISUTAL IDENTITY FOR NORDIC MANUFACTURING

Background:

Nordic Components is expanding its business with a new division, Nordic Manufacturing, aimed at showcasing their custom capabilities.

They sought to establish this new entity with a unique brand identity, separate from their original brand, to attract new clients without revealing the connection to Nordic Components.

Challenge:

The challenge was to

  • Create a brand design that stands out from the typical clichés in the manufacturing industry

  • Create a distinction from Nordic Components, ensuring new clients would not realize they were part of the same company

  • Avoid common industry claims of best quality and precision, and instead, develop a brand that resonates with authenticity and innovation

Goals:

  • Ensure the brand appeals to industrial purchasing departments and engineers searching for a reliable and versatile manufacturing partner.

  • Build a brand experience that instills confidence and understanding in the target audience, showcasing Nordic Manufacturing’s full range of services from design and prototyping to production

Design Decisions:

Logo Design:

  • The 'NORDIC' font is leaning forward to evoke feelings of energy and being forward thinking.

  • The letters contain both square and round edges to speak to variety of capabilities and agility

  • The icon both is representative of the initials as well as a machine with a sharp cutting tip and a protective arm encompassing the machine. This feels safe and protective of reputation. 

  • The wide tracking (space between letters) feels a little high end and luxurious and as these products are top tier AND provide a one-stop shop experience for customers

Color Palette:

  • This color palette feels clean and industrial with a pop of unpredictability

  • The blues and silvers feels stable, dependable, industrial, clean, trustworthy while the complimentary bright colors feel very updated and modern

  • When paired together in these unique combinations, the logo feels strong and dependable while being high tech and current in all areas of the business.

  • This feels creative and fresh with a little retro quality to play on the experience but willingness and energy to keep current
