DMX Power Brand Revival
Problem
For more than a decade, two highly respected power solution brands, Magnum Energy and Dimensions Unlimited, operated under a complex ownership structure that diluted their individual identities and market positioning.
An attempted integration of the two brands failed to fully unite their equity, audiences, and legacy. Further operational challenges emerged when manufacturing was moved offshore, creating friction between the company's reputation for reliability and the customer experience it was delivering.
When new ownership acquired the business and returned manufacturing to Minnesota, leadership faced a critical challenge:
How do you honor decades of trust built under two iconic brands while establishing a single identity that signals a new era of American manufacturing, operational excellence, and renewed customer confidence?
The stakes were high. Customers, employees, dealers, and industry partners all carried strong emotional connections to the legacy brands. Any new identity needed to acknowledge the past without becoming trapped by it.
Solution
I partnered with leadership to develop a visual identity system that balanced heritage with transformation.
Rather than abandoning the equity built by Magnum Energy and Dimensions Unlimited, the new DMX Power brand was intentionally designed to preserve recognizable elements from both organizations while creating a unified future-facing identity.
The new name itself became a bridge between the two legacies. Visual elements incorporated cues from the established Magnum blue and Dimensions green, allowing long-time customers to recognize continuity while clearly communicating organizational change.
The resulting brand system was applied across customer-facing touchpoints to create consistency, clarity, and confidence throughout the relaunch.
Outcome
After more than 12 years of unsuccessful attempts to fully integrate two legacy brands, DMX Power emerged with a unified identity that honors its history while supporting its future growth.
The new brand provided leadership with a platform to communicate the company's return to American manufacturing, renewed commitment to quality, and investment in operational excellence.
Most importantly, the identity helped customers understand the transition. Rather than appearing as a departure from the past, DMX Power was positioned as a return to the values, craftsmanship, and reliability that originally established both brands as industry leaders.
As the company's marketing strategist summarized:
"After 12 years of failure attempting to integrate two legacy brands with equal brand equity, Danielle was able to professionally design all aspects and applications in a manner that paid homage to legacy and yet break into something new. The consumer will understand the nuance and the goal of establishing a new identity because of her efforts. Our new brand communicates professionally, with acknowledgement of our past, and credence for the future."
